Foundation Course in Book-keeping

If you think you might like to learn book-keeping but are reluctant to put your toe in the water, this simple 'taster' course (available very shortly)is the place to start. You will quickly learn how to use straightforward double entry book-keeping to turn normal business records into proper books of account. If you are starting up in business or already running a small business this course may be all you need. But if you want to go further we will credit £15 from the course fee towards your next book-keeping course, whether you just want to learn more advanced skills for your own business or to take professional exams so that you can keep books for clients. There's now no excuse!

Book-keeping - we will pay for your mocks

Following the introduction of its computer-based exams for Level II and Level III Manual Book-keeping last month, the Institute of Certified Book-keepers now offers candidates an online mock exam for Levels I & II with Level III to follow shortly. The mocks cost £10. If you are studying with DLP, we will pay this for you provided that you complete our own (manual) mock exam first. Just e-mail me or your Tutor when you are ready for your online mock exam. We will pay the ICB fee and the ICB will send you a link to the mock exam. Read Ray Taylor's blog on this website for his experience in testing the online exam for Level I.
Please note that from September 2011, those seeking ACIB must pass both Manual and Computerised Book-keeping at Level II and for the MCIB you must pass both Manual and Computerised Book-keeping at Level III.

Phillip Taylor MBE

Phillip Taylor, who has tutored and written Law courses for DLP since 1999 and for partner companies for even longer, has decided to retire. We wish Phillip a long and happy retirement in which he can pursue his many interests.
For the time being, Phillip will continue to tutor existing students who using our Personal Tuition Programme for the LLB but if you are taking other law courses please contact me so that I can allocate you to one of our other law Tutors.
Phillip's blog will also remain on our website for the time being and if Phillip ever wishes to pop in and leave a message or comment he wiil be welcome to do so.
